Combining the use of a film scene and its screenplay provides
a myriad of options for the English-language classroom. We can
use it to work on all 4 skills, provide useful vocabulary and
phrases, and, by practicing acting skills, ensure it's not forgotten.
Seminar 2: The Film. The Soundtrack.
The soundtrack is an integral part of a film. In recent years
films with music as their main theme have proved highly successful
at the box office. By combining a film scene and the lyrics
of the song it depicts we can create skills- and task-based
lessons which are enjoyable, challenging and relevant.

pressure, gender issues, patchwork families, parental expectations;
the challenges of the teenage years are a recurring theme in
cinema.
Using film scenes is a great way to address issues which directly
affect students and to bring the English language to life.
They can be used to trigger a range of skills-based tasks and
lessons and add another dimension to the English-language classroom.
A 4-unit seminar on how to use film scenes to build skills-based
